Dr. Safdar A Butt

Dr. Safdar A Butt is a well-reputed figure in the finance and management education of our country who has rendered his services over a wide spectrum of organizations in the country and abroad.

Dr. Butt has an experience of over twenty-four years working in senior board level positions including working closely with large multinationals for seven years. He is a certified Company Director from PIGC. He has previously served as a director of the four listed companies, Director Finance of Army Welfare Trust and has also been engaged with the finance and banking sector and the oil sector. He served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pak Agro Packaging Ltd., the first SME to be listed at GEM Board of PSX. He was also the Director and Chairman of Board’s Audit Committee & Board’s HR Committee of Hi Tech Lubricants Ltd., Lahore. He served as the Director of Bank of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (BAJK) from 2006 to 2013 as a nominee of the AJK Government.

For years, he has served as an independent financial consultant to major industrial concerns.

Having served in different industries, Dr. Butt has an educational career spanning almost three decades, where he worked as Professor at the Capital University of Information & Technology, Islamabad for almost two decades, retiring as their Professor Emeritus in 2018. He also served as the Dean of its Faculty of Management & Social Sciences department from 2007 to 2009. He is also a trustee of Ujala Educational Foundation, a non-profit organization in Pakistan, dedicated to providing educational, social and health services to the needy.

Dr. Butt is an Associate Member, Institute of Cost and Executive Accountants, London, a Fellow of the Institute of Administrative Accountants, London and a Full member of Kenya Institute of Management, Nairobi.

He has authored thirty six books and numerous articles on finance, costing, accounting, auditing, management and kindred subjects. Eight of the books were published from the UK, nineteen from East Africa and seven from Pakistan. His latest book is “A HANDBOOK FOR COMPANY DIRECTORS IN PAKISTAN”. In addition, he has also penned a novel in English and over fifty short stories, both in English and Urdu.
